It sure feels good to be at the top of your game.
That's certainly the way comedian Steve Harvey has to feel after hearing the news that his second book, 'Straight Talk, No Chaser' has topped the New York Times Best Sellers list.
The new relationship tome is the follow-up to his Amistad/Harper Collins debut 'Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, which topped the list for six consecutive weeks and spent sixty weeks on the list.
"I have often said if something happens in your life that you just can't seem to explain .... That is usually God," Harvey told BlackVoices.com today. "So I am grateful today for this wonderful gift.... And I thank those of you who offer your support."
'Straight Talk, No Chaser' has a reported 850,000 copies in print for its first run. And industry insiders say that they are flying off the shelves.
"I go so deep into the mindset of men and how we operate and function, and I give women real things that they can do to help in their relationship," Harvey said.
The King of Comedy is quick to correct people calling him a "relationship expert." After three marriages and over 50 years of living, he assures everyone he has mastered manhood. And that is an essential key to a successful relationship.
"You know, look man, men are not bad people. But women think we're bad because they don't get us at all," he added. "We're very, very simple. We all think alike. We all basically think alike when it comes down to commitment, love, relationships, money, sex, whatever it is. We all about basically think the same."
Harvey has been criss-crossing across the country promoting the book since its official release Dec. 7.
On radio, Harvey currently hosts the top-rated syndicated show, 'The Steve Harvey Morning Show,' and on television, he reigns supreme as the new host of the long-running game show, 'Family Feud.' He will kick off his first-ever gospel comedy tour with Kirk Franklin on March 9, 2011.

Steve is a great snake oil salesmen. He is very good at telling women what they want to hear and not the truth because most of them are not equip to handle the truth and he knows that and so does his target audience.

@god72father: So have u read Steve's book? If u r a male; I doubt it bc a lot of men don't read books. It tells the truth; and most women can relate to it. I'm wondering if u r expressing a little bit of jealousy here?

This goes to show how vernerable and desperate women are to find a man. Women are buying books from a cheater, a beater, and a scammer. His ex-wife was beat, cheated on, and scammed by this man. But, his books are selling off the shelves. He doesn't know what a real relationship is all about, if he did, he would not have been married 3 times already. I believe this last marriage is only a couple years old. Sell me a book when he makes this one last for about 20 years, if not, one should turn a death ear to this foolishness. He is laughing all the way to the bank, off these poor, desperate, primarily african american women. lol

Here's my problem with Steve Harvey. Why does he keep saying that "all men think alike" and that he speaks for ALL men??? Unless Steve has done some research, focus groups, surveys, etc..., compiled the results and done some analysis, he cannot say that "all men think alike" and that he speaks for all men. I think that is reckless and irresponsible because for women seeking to understand the men, they will think that his advice is Gospel, when it is indeed gossip. It's like asking your crazy uncle for advice. You either take it or leave it, but don't put a whole lot of emphasis on it.

@Nicole: Steve addresses his infidelity, and (3) marriages in the book. However; this is the first time I've heard about alleged beatings. I don't put anything past anyone; but do u know the beating story 2 b accurate? As for women being desperate for a man; I think most women just want companionship, and someone to share their lives with. I don't see anything wrong with wanting someone to love. That's healthy, and most people want that (women anyway). Partnership is a good thing!!

Google it and look for your self (smoking gun has the info). His ex wife claimed that he has hit her before. Also, he ripped that women off. I'm all for everyone wanting to be happy and in love, but if you are going to gave advice, you should at least me successful at your own marriage. Why take notes from a proven snake, even if he did put it in his book. I like Steve Harvey and all but, relationship advice I don't need from him. He can keep it. I hear it is an interesting read. My personal advice is to pray and rely on your womanly instincts. Better yet, ask an older married women, who have married for years. My mother helped me decide whether or not to date my hubby and he is a great godly man! I couldn't ask for a better husband and I'm sure me reading Steve's book with not have helped. Sometimes, it is about being in the right place at the right time to receive your Gift from God!

@Pink..you're right, he addresses all his shortcomings. Wouldn't it be a wonderful thing if everyone was able to do the same? Kudos to you on your response to Nicole. If she has that "godly husband" and advises women to pray, then Nicole herself should be a forgiving woman instead of reading trash and gossip columns...Amen? @ Nicole, a person can be married 7 times just like a just man falls 7 times. We get back up and let God direct our paths. If it's not meant to be it's not meant to be. What God has for a person is for that person. Further, Steve is expressing his views, in which everyone has one. So if you have not sinned by thought, word or deed, then you can cast the first stone. One can only tell you about life's experiences if they have walked in those shoes. And to the rest of the commenters, the best way to get and keep a man or a woman is let God put that man or woman in your life. Why are "godly" women so bent on getting and keeping a man anyway? Proverbs 18:22 Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of the LORD. I'm a black woman myself and it peeves me to no bitter end how grown women call up with the most stupidest questions about men. Maybe it is time for a man to help "some" women get a clue. To the happily married sisters, God bless you and yours. To the women out there trying to get and keep a man, let go and let God.
