Perhaps it was no mistake that a month before Oprah announced plans to end her wildly successful talk show, she released 'Dream Big! O's Guide to Discovering Your Best Life.' Was she signaling plans to pursue another big dream of her OWN (the Oprah Winfrey Network)? Whatever the purpose or the timing of its release, 'Dream Big!' is truly inspiring.
"How fantastic would your life look if nothing were holding you back?'' Oprah writes in the introduction. "That's the million-dollar question, and we're here to help you answer it with 'Dream Big: O's Guide to Discovering Your Best Life.' With more than 75 articles drawn from the pages of O, The Oprah Magazine, this best-of-the best collection of inspiration and advice gives you our recommended daily allowance of breakthroughs, insights, and laughter -- and of course, for all of you big dreamers, a triple dose of 'wow.' "
As always, Oprah encourages readers to dream big! The article, 'Great Moments in Self-Esteem,' is a reminder "that you're already far more fabulous that you think,'' she writes. 'Urgent! Urgent! Or Is It?' brings to the fore irrefutable evidence that it really is okay to make room in your world for the things that truly matter.
"I've always believed that becoming your best self involves looking beyond yourself; so this book also includes stories -- you'll want some tissues handy -- about everyday heroes and the extraordinary things that ordinary women can do when they put their minds to it,'' she writes. "Finally, you'll get to meet some of the people who have expanded my own horizons: Eckhart Tolle, who has taught so many of us so much about freeing ourselves from unhappiness; Denzel Washington, who brings such passion to his work; and my dear friend Maria Shriver, whose life is a shining example of the importance of following your heart.''
Oprah Winfrey knows all about following your heart. It's how she's made a living. And the world is eagerly awaiting her next move. 'Dream Big!' is Oprah's story. It is our story. It is the story of every man and woman who dares to dream big. Pick up a copy for yourself and a friend. It's a great holiday gift.

Sugarbowl2009 you are in my prayers. Whether this was a statement made to solicit comments or not the fact that you would even write such angry words warrants prayer for you. Ask yourself why you have hatred for someone you don't truly know.

@ girlking,
So, it is only OK to have an opinion if it bolsters someone else's vanity?! - hypocritical much:- There's one thing that sugarbowl2009 needs from you and that's your prayers. You try to present yourself as humble, but you make a display of your piety by publicly praying for sugarbowl2009, without his consent, and reveal yourself as arrogant and puffed up with pride.

I agree. oprah is a big, fat mammy to white people. she is a traitor to her people here in america. what has she done for black america except support the vicious sterotypes put on us by white america. check out her latest depiction of us in her support of the movie, precious. i am not proud of her. i am proud of black americans like malcome x, elijah muhammed; dr king, adam clayton powell, jr; fanny lou hammer and all other black americans who stand up to white america and not bow and kiss ass like oprah and obama. know your history black people then you can identify the heros from the phoney uncle toms.

We are our own worst enemy. When another black person is successful on their own terms, we have crab syndrome and have to bring them down and wish them ill will.
Those of us who never reach Oprah's level of success can afford to be critical because we do not know the sacrifices and compromises she has made. I would like to be more successful, but I would not like to be OPrah.

I got the book for the library and I really enjoyed it. Oprah did not write many of the articles she utilized others some we know of who share their experiences in various areas of their lives: exercise, life issues, social issues and so. Oprah, has contributed to the success of many regardless of their skin color just by putting them on her show. Jamie Foxx said is quoted as saying by being on Oprah his album sold a million copies over night. Her show also helped: Dr Phil, Illanza Vanzant and The YOU doctors. There are so many others.
A white man saw the talent in Oprah during a time when she thought being overweight was a hinderance and he selected her to become the new face for the talk show that is now her very own.
We cannot continue blaming the white man for what slavery perpetuated and we continue to embrace. It take courage to break the perpetuating cycle of self hate!
