These are our best sellers (or at least the books we feel should be). Each week on Tuesday we will release what we feel are the hottest books of the week. The list is compiled by our staff of experts who have read just about everything out there and came up with this list.

BV Books Hot Picks 10.28.08

The Shack (Fiction) by William P. Young
    Windblown Media, $14.99

Oh God! During these tough times, many people cling to their religion. But here's a book that gives you a real insight into who God is and the relationship you can have with Him. The story is fiction, but as the author told me "the experience is totally real."

    Windblown Media

Letter To My Daughter (Nonfiction) by Maya Angelou
    Random House, $25

The godmother of poetry for our generation, Madame Angelou, releases a powerful piece that is part poetry, part memoir, part instruction. This is a letter to the daughter she never gave birth to, but to the daughter who lives inside of all of us. This is a message of love. This book should be a part of your library, right next to 'I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings.'

    Random House

The Post-American World (Nonfiction) by Fareed Zakaria
    W.W. Norton, $25.95

This was No. 1 last week. But it still deserves a read. This is a sober look at where America really is as she relates to the rest of the world. Super power? Or faded giant?

    W.W. Norton

Breaking Dawn (Fiction) by Stephenie Meyer
    Little Brown, $22.95

Just in time for Halloween. This is the fourth of a series and perhaps the best. The story of vampires, werewolves and the humans they love finally wraps up. The tale of Bella, Edward and Jacob takes an unusual twist but to fans of the series, it will not disappoint. If you haven't read the first three, 'Twilight,' 'New Moon,' and 'Eclipse,' you may be lost. So set aside some time to do so.

    Little Brown

The Legs Are The Last To Go (Nonfiction) by Diahann Carroll
    Amistad, $24.95

We loved her as Julia. We loved her as Claudine. We loved her as Dominique Devereaux. Now the grande damme of the big screen and small shares her life -- from her loves to battling breast cancer -- and ultimately how she survived it all.

    Harper Collins

My Soul To Keep (Fiction) Tananarive Due
    Eos, $15.95

Stephen King called Due one of the best writers in their genre. And she is. She takes an age-old theme -- the quest for eternal life -- and spins it in ways your would never expect. This is the first of a trilogy. So start here to truly appreciate Due's genius.

    Eos

Audacity of Hope (Nonfiction) by Barack Obama
    Three Rivers Press, $14.95

One week and counting. Okay, it is a bit dry and drawn out, but if you're voting based on issues and philosophy, and not so much on race and good looks, then you owe it to yourself to know where Barack Obama stands in his own words. Here it is.

    Three Rivers Press
