The Shack (Fiction) by William P. Young
Windblown Media, $14.99
Oh God! During these tough times, many people cling to their religion. But here's a book that gives you a real insight into who God is and the relationship you can have with Him. The story is fiction, but as the author told me "the experience is totally real."

Letter To My Daughter (Nonfiction) by Maya Angelou
Random House, $25
The godmother of poetry for our generation, Madame Angelou, releases a powerful piece that is part poetry, part memoir, part instruction. This is a letter to the daughter she never gave birth to, but to the daughter who lives inside of all of us. This is a message of love. This book should be a part of your library, right next to 'I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings.'
Random House
The Post-American World (Nonfiction) by Fareed Zakaria
W.W. Norton, $25.95
This was No. 1 last week. But it still deserves a read. This is a sober look at where America really is as she relates to the rest of the world. Super power? Or faded giant?

Breaking Dawn (Fiction) by Stephenie Meyer
Little Brown, $22.95
Just in time for Halloween. This is the fourth of a series and perhaps the best. The story of vampires, werewolves and the humans they love finally wraps up. The tale of Bella, Edward and Jacob takes an unusual twist but to fans of the series, it will not disappoint. If you haven't read the first three, 'Twilight,' 'New Moon,' and 'Eclipse,' you may be lost. So set aside some time to do so.
Little Brown

Audacity of Hope (Nonfiction) by Barack Obama
Three Rivers Press, $14.95
One week and counting. Okay, it is a bit dry and drawn out, but if you're voting based on issues and philosophy, and not so much on race and good looks, then you owe it to yourself to know where Barack Obama stands in his own words. Here it is.

when did Dihann Carol become a white woman with blond hair? she used to be a beautiful black woman who made us proud to be black and female too. now she's just another white woman--like rue paul and michael jackson.

50 plus million black people in America. 50 plus million ways to be black. We always think we have a lock on what it is to be black. Get a grip and look in the mirror, you are the only black person that you can account for in this world.

The best book of 2008 to me is Rovella Starr. Blogs, & readers say this book by Carol Denise Mitchell is a new classic.
The book, Rovella Starr is about a beautiful woman, whose life is ruined over her belief that a crucial childhood accident was her fault. When a successful woman enters Rovella's life, and falls in love with her son; the sad truth about Rovella is exposed.
But, will it be too late. The writer is incredible the way she weaves this masterpiece into believable people like we meet everyday. Readers will be entranced by the beautiful, Rovella Starr.
I commend it to readers. Video below.
